Volume 2, Just Do Something

Hi Friends,

Welcome back to the Dweller’s Guide! This past month has been so hectic, but I have learned so much in the process of creating DWLLNG PLCE. The timeline to get these beautiful journals in your hands is a lot longer than I thought it would be. BUT this has been such a great reminder that we can’t put our own timelines on the will of God. With that said, fear not! The Lord has opened so many doors, and He won’t stop now. I’m taking it one step at a time and figuring it out as I go!

ANYWHO! The topic of the “right” time has really been on my heart recently… mainly because that doesn’t exist. If we keep waiting for the perfect time, it will never come. Life goes on regardless of how we feel. We can sit idly by and hope that God will meet us face-to-face and tell us what to do, but then what would be the point of faith? It takes courage to take a step that may seem scary, because that means we must have faith that God will provide in that decision. Oftentimes, we wait for Him to make it clear what decision to make and when (not that He can’t), but what if that’s not the point? What if the point was to have an unshakable faith in the midst of our decisions? To trust that He will meet us where we’re at despite the circumstances.

I was meeting with my mentor the other day, and we talked about how we know if we’re making the right decision or not. But what if there is no “wrong” decision? I believe that God has all these different paths laid out for us and gives us the freedom to choose which route we want to take. But since God is sovereign over it all, He already knows what path we’re going to choose. There’s comfort in knowing that God loves us enough to let us choose AND has already worked out the intricate details of that path.

Honestly, the worst thing that we can do is to make no decision. Indecision is the worst decision. We have to choose and go. Stop waiting for the “perfect” time or “right” decision. Just do something.

So what does that mean for you?

Does that mean applying for the job?

Does that mean pursuing the relationship?

Does that mean moving to a new city?

Does that mean trying the new hobby?

Does that mean joining the Bible study?

Does that mean investing your time into something you care about?

Whatever it may be for you… just do SOMETHING.

It doesn’t have to make sense to your family, friends, peers, or yourself. If God put it on your heart, then you owe it to Him to be obedient. It’s hard going against the norm. It’s hard trying to explain the “why” behind your decision. But it doesn’t really matter. Just do something.

We tend to make life a lot harder than it should be. What if we simplified it and had a faith that loves others well, leads others well, and serves others well? After all, it’s not about us. What if God rewards others through your obedience?

So let this be encouragement to you. It’s time to make that decision and trust that the Lord will be with you every step of the way. He is going before you, beside you, and behind you.

“I saw the Lord always before me, for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken” Acts 2:25

Stay dwelled in,

Emily
